Prepare to Teach in Ireland
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is designed to give student teachers from the United States and Canada the opportunity to learn more about the Irish Education System in order to prepare them to student teach in an Irish early childhood, primary or secondary school.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The course consists of two modules:
- Irish Educational System module includes:
- Introduction to the Irish educational system – its formation, development and organisation
- How the Irish educational system differs from the North American style
- Courses taught in the Irish educational system
- Practical methods of teaching in Ireland
- History and culture of Ireland
- Overview of Irish history including
- The famine
- Emigration
- Politics
- Overview of Irish culture including
- Music
- Literature
- Irish Language
- Overview of Irish history including
The course will be delivered by an Irish certified teacher, mainly via lectures, seminars and cultural tours.

Application Details

Applications must be accompanied by a current CV and a non-refundable application fee of $85.00 USD.
An intent to enroll deposit of $500.00 USD is payable on application. The remainder of the fee must be paid on or before the 30 May 2015.
Total payment due at application stage: $585.00 USD
The intent to enroll fee is non-refundable except in extenuating circumstances.
All refund requests must be in writing and posted to: Louise Gibbons, International Programs Manager, Inspire Learning, Broadlands, Quay Road, Westport, Co Mayo, Ireland.
INSPIRE LEARNING reserves the right to cancel the student’s application if the terms and conditions are not met.
Student accommodation will be either host family or self-catered housing; we will endeavour to comply with student’s accommodation preferences, but reserve the right to place students in the type of accommodation available at the time.
